"Countdown Signals Are A Dream Come True" - Orlando Sentinel

 Tassimco Technologies

The Tassimco “countdown” ped signal is ideal for high traffic, high risk pedestrian crossings. The man / hand international pedestrian indications are often misunderstood by the public. Studies have shown that the “countdown” ped signal takes the mystery out of their meaning. Pedestrians who were interviewed showed a higher level of recognition with the addition of the supplemental countdown clock.

There are three options for converting to the Countdown Ped which vary depending on your application.

Conversion of 18" ICC or McCain 1 Section Pedestrian Signals

PCS 444 - Conversion Kit for ICC Pedestrian Signal - This sealed retrofit module will install easily in place of an existing lens and connect directly into the terminal block. This combines the Portland Orange LED "HAND" (outline) with a white LED "MAN" (outline) with a double-digit red LED countdown display. The LED lamps provide up to 90% energy savings over conventional incandescent indications.

Conversion of 12" 2 Section Pedestrian Signals

PHS 555 and PCS 333 - Pedestrian Hybrid Signal and Pedestrian Countdown Module for 12" Housings - These sealed modules install in place of standard 2-section incandescent signals lenses and wire directly into the terminal block. The PHS 555 Hybrid Signal overlays the Portland Orange LED "HAND" (outline) with a white LED "MAN" (outline) to replace the top section. The PCS 333 Pedestrian Countdown Module contains a double-digit red LED countdown display, and replaces the bottom section.

Supplemental Signalization to Existing Pedestrian Signals

PCS 333 - Pedestrian Countdown Module for 12" Housings - The PCS 333 Pedestrian Countdown Module can be added to an existing one or two-section ped signal as an auxiliary signal without additional wiring runs. The PCS 333 has double-digit dual rows of red LED lamps for years of power-efficient operations.
